Clarence Bartel, 91, passed away July 11, 2009 in Sandy, Utah. Hewas 91 years old.He was born February 14, 1918 in Cleveland, Ohio.He was the son of Gustaf Adolf and Pauline Gorning Bartel. He wasone of 10 children. He was proud of his military service. He servedin the US Army during World War II as a medic in the Phillippines.He lived in Ohio and California for many years before moving toUtah. He worked in the construction industry. He had a life longlove of construction. He was talented and skilled in woodworking. Heenjoyed salmon fishing in the ocean, playing cards, traveling andespecially loved his dog, Apri. He loved, and was loved, by hisfamily. His sense of humor and kindness blessed many.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and fivebrother. He is survived by his sister, Lillian Hvzid; niece JanetColeman; great-nephews Dean (Ann) Coleman and Craig (Beth) Coleman;great-niece, Jacquelyn (Pat) Heaney; their families and many familymembers in Ohio.
The family would like to express appreciation to Atria, HavenHome Health and Dr. Thomas Dietz for their care of Clarence.
A memorial service will be held Friday, 7:00 p.m. at McDougal
Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.
